The early May Bank Holiday was one of the warmest on record, with wall-to-wall sunshine over the three days.
And this weekend is likely to be just as hot as a plume of warm air pushes up from the Continent.
Although the forecast of more dry and settled weather will be welcomed by many Islanders and tourists, it is likely to come as bad news for growers and gardeners.
Just 8 mm of rain has fallen during May – well below the monthly average of 54.7 mm, and some farmers have already started irrigating.
There is, however, the risk of thundery showers from Friday night, but there is no sign of any prolonged rain or a return to wet and windy weather coming in from the Atlantic.
Jersey Met forecaster Aimée Reading said: ‘It is looking essentially dry for the next few days but we will start to see a risk of showers coming up from France by the weekend.
‘Confidence in the forecast is low but at the moment the greatest risk is overnight on Friday and into Saturday morning.
‘As is often the case in situations like this, it is very difficult to pinpoint exactly where the showers will be and it could be the case that they miss us entirely.
‘And it is also looking like being warm, with temperatures in the mid 20s.’
Although it has been dry, Jersey Water say reservoirs are 95 per cent full.
