The venue, to be called The Shipyard, is to be a ‘contemporary pub’ serving ‘classic British dishes’ and offering entertainment for local families and visitors to the Island, according to Casual Dining Group, which is behind the plans.

The pub, which will also feature a nautical-themed children’s play area, live stage entertainment and TV screens showing sport, will replace the former harbour café which closed almost six years ago.

The venue will also be available to hire for functions and parties.

Mark Nelson, managing director of concessions and franchising at the Casual Dining Group, said: ‘We’re delighted to be opening The Shipyard this summer, creating a new and revitalised hub for the local community to enjoy, as well as appealing to visiting yachtsmen and passengers travelling to Jersey by sea.

‘We were determined to create a unique space that would be equally appealing to people using the ferry, as well as those wanting to watch live sport with a pint, or mothers meeting midweek for a coffee.

‘We’re very happy with the final designs for the space and truly believe The Shipyard will give the local community and visitors to the Island something new and different to enjoy.’

The Shipyard, which is a joint venture between Casual Dining Group and Ports of Jersey, is currently under construction and is recruiting staff across all areas of its business.
