Jersey lifeboat rescues French yachtsman

The JLA was called out at around 2.15pm on Friday following reports of a yachtsman with a suspected broken hip.

The RNLI inshore boat had been first on scene and the JLA treated him on board its Sir Max Aitken III vessel and brought him to Jersey, where paramedics discovered he had a broken femur.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the JLA said the casualty had then been treated by staff at the General Hospital.

‘Luckily one of our crew is French and escorted him to hospital to act as his translator even though it was his day off and his wedding anniversary,’ the statement added.
