Cumberland crunch as Team Jets seek improvements

Currently in a play-off position, Jets will be hoping to end their Premier League 3 campaign with victories in their final two games – the second of which is at home to second-placed Leyton on Sunday 25 March.

‘We’ve got to be realistic,’ said Jets coach Linda Andrews, adding: ‘We need to win two from two to give us any chance.

‘Last week was not what we hoped for [a 52-38 home defeat by Norfolk United], it’s behind us now and we move on.

‘The girls have had a brilliant week, they’ve trained so hard and they continue to believe in themselves.

‘We worked on the little areas that were missing in our performance last week and now look forward to the challenge of Cumberland.

‘It was a cracking game last time, we trailed by two goals at half time and put up a really good fight, only to then make a few unforced errors which led to a ten-goal defeat.’

Becca Forrest misses tomorrow’s match with an ankle injury.

Andrews added: ‘Becca could be out for up to four weeks so we’ve added Shauna Danvill [a defender] to the squad to give cover in all areas.

‘Shauna has been with us before on the bench [as a replacement] and we will be looking to give her some court-time this time.

‘Team-wise we will keep pushing on week-in week-out.

‘We’re never satisfied with the last performance, we’re always looking to see what can do next to improve in our next game.’
