Grainville pupils rise to a challenge

James Scott, director of learning and physical literacy, said: ‘We assessed all Key Stage 3 fitness levels and then allocated each pupil to three separate running groups, at sessions which took place before school at 7.30 am for three weeks. There is lots of research that shows doing exercise before school improves performance and learning. The response from the pupils was very good and it was great to see lots of them taking on the 5k challenge.’

‘Over 40 pupils, staff and our wider community completed the 5k Parkrun challenge. We hope that now they have got their barcodes they can take part on a regular basis and understand the importance of staying active.’

‘Thanks to all the Parkrun volunteers who do a fantastic job every Saturday [at Les Quennevais]. Its such a great initiative for the Island.’
