Farmers denied by Brewster

Farmers Caesarean’s had the chance to pocket the title but they were beaten by JMCo Walkovers SCF by seven wickets, on their home ground at Farmer’s Field in a rearranged Jersey Post Weekend League fixture.

Island player Nat Watkins and Jamie Brewster, a former Jersey player-of-the-year, performed well with the bat for the winners with 39 runs and an undefeated 55 respectively.

Watkins struck four boundaries off the 39 deliveries he faced while Brewster hit three 6s, the only 6s of the match, off of 36 balls for a strike-rate of 152.78.

Walkovers chased down the Farmer’s total of 145 for seven with an over to spare.

Island all rounder Ben Kynman was the leading wicket-taker on the night, for the hosts, with three wickets for 19 runs in four overs.

After a brisk opening 27 from Duncan Ellis, Tony Carlyon led the Farmer’s batting with 38 runs.

Walkovers, who were beaten in their opening four matches, finished their programme with back-to-back victories, including defeating the champions-elect in their previous match last week.
