Three-way 200m record falls

Johnson, who won 4x400m gold, 200m silver and 100m bronze in Gotland last year, clocked 21.83 sec in the men’s final at the Emirates Arena on Sunday – smashing the previous best time jointly cherished by three Island athletes.

Gordon Sinclair (1986), Rob Currie (1988) and Kieran Palmer (2004) all held an equal share of the previous record, which stood at 22.00s.

‘It’s nice to be a little part of club history, but they are there to be broken so I hope mine doesn’t stand as long as the old one,’ said Johnson. ‘I’m aiming to take it down further.’
