Jersey win sets up group decider with Ynys Mon

As in their 5-0 victory over Orkney on Sunday, Jersey wasted no time in putting themselves in control against the Western Isles, with Kieran Lester scoring twice – his fifth and sixth goals in two games – in the first-half of their 7-0 triumph.

Teenager Sol Solomon opened his account with four goals, including one penalty after George Glithero was fouled, with Karl Hinds also on target from the spot following a foul on Fraser Barlow.

Jersey missed a third penalty at 6-0, with substitute Zeljko Martinovic’s dinked effort being saved by the goalkeeper.

The Caesareans need a point against the hosts to guarantee themselves a place in the last four, thanks to their superior goal difference.

Jersey Women play Gibraltar this evening for the right to take second in their group, and earn a semi-final spot alongside Isle of Man.

Jersey: Birrell, Kilshaw, Curtis, Quérée (c), Giles (Carr 46), Nafkha (Shirley 60), Trotter (Mendes-Petana 46), Barlow, Hinds (Martinovic 64), Solomon, Lester (Glithero 60).
