Player of the Season shortlists announced

JEP Golden Boot leader Jake Prince, Jersey Wanderers’ Logan McGhee and Sporting Academics forward Jamie Savory attracted the most votes from their Jacksons Premiership peers for their efforts before the campaign was ended prematurely, while in the Championship, St Ouen Reserves’ Ryan Le Cornu and Max Simon – ranked first and second on the scoring charts with 18 and ten goals respectively – are shortlisted after leading their side to the title. Pacey St John winger Jack Hardisty joins them, having registered nine goals to help the parish club’s first XI to second in the table.

In contrast, the ladies’ crown will be awarded to one of three players who ply their trade behind the front line, with Ciara Giles [Rozel], Lucinda Overbury [Grouville] and Sam Silva [Wanderers] receiving nominations ahead of rivals from unbeaten league champions St Lawrence.

Elsewhere, the junior footballer of the year title will go to one of a trio of strong contenders – Jay Dos Santos [St Clement], Toby Ritzema [St Peter] or Olly Rivers [St Paul’s] – while the award for referee of the year could either end up in a very familiar or brand new grasp.

Richard Dyer has been nominated for the first time, alongside stalwarts with plenty of previous success. Mark Le Cornu – already a six-time winner of the award – returns for what could be a fourth consecutive crown, with Andy Norman in line for his fifth title.

The winners will be announced when it is safe for the Jersey FA to stage its end-of-season awards night.
