Lightning will test Jets’ mettle

That is the belief of head coach Linda Andrews this week as her side approach their league opener at Fort Regent, with TFC – tied to Loughborough Lightning – likely to provide a stern test tomorrow morning.

The visitors, formerly known as Loughborough and Premier League 3 opponents to Jets in 2014/15, have played two divisions below the Islanders for two years. But for Andrews that by no means suggests a gulf in class.

‘It’s not going to be an easy first game,’ she explained.

‘The concerning thing for us is if they bring Peace Proscovia [2017 Super League Player of the Year]. Loughborough Lightning could use TFC’s games to get their girls fit for the Super League season, which is starting earlier because of the Commonwealth Games [April 2018].’
