Van Breda (25), who moved to St Peter from Western Province this summer, had his captaincy officially confirmed yesterday after representing the club at Twickenham for the Championship launch last week.
The fullback guided the Reds to victory against Coventry in pre-season, with prop Godfrey (28) and former Saracens hooker Saunders (26) leading the side against RC Vannes and Harlequins respectively. The front-row pair have since been named as vice-captains.
Jersey begin their sixth Championship campaign at home this Saturday, against Doncaster Knights.
