Senator Walker is this week leading a delegation from Jersey’s finance industry sector in a series of meetings, dinners and receptions in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Bahrain.
The Senator reportedly told the Arab media that Gulf investors currently held around £40 billion in the Island.
He said: ‘Although only a small percentage of investment is from the Arabian Gulf, it is growing significantly.
Our regulatory regime is strong.’We have tackled money laundering and tax evasion, and we are recognised worldwide as a high-quality offshore financial centre.’Senator Walker, who is travelling with former Senator Pierre Horsfall as chairman of Jersey Finance Ltd, has held meetings with the governor of the United Arab Emirates Central Bank and officials from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority.
