Hundreds of people have gathered in Whitby to celebrate Goth Weekend, held twice a year in the North Yorkshire seaside town.

Organisers hailed the event as the “UK’s biggest goth and alternative event”, with music fans and families joining in the fun that featured people parading through the cobbled streets in intricately made gothic, steampunk and historical costumes.

Bram Stoker is believed to have found inspiration for classic tale Dracula when he visited Whitby in 1890.
