Vauxhall joins the Motor Mall family

This follows the expansion of the choice available back in April when Fiat, Abarth and Alfa Romeo joined the fold.

The Jacksons Group – which has franchises in Guernsey, the Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight in addition to the Jacksons and Motor Mall operations in Jersey – already represents Vauxhall in some of the other jurisdictions.

Vauxhall-Opel became part of the PSA Group, which owns Peugeot and Citroen, when it bought the European operations of American car giant General Motors in August 2017. Motor Mall already sells the Peugeot and Citroen brands.

Motor Mall general manager Neil Wiseman, who took up the post in July last year, said that Vauxhall would be a valuable addition to the choice available to both passenger and commercial vehicle customers, particularly with the Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo brands moving to Jacksons on the Airport Road upon the completion of their new dedicated showrooms later this year.

Prior to moving to Jersey, Neil was a general manager for 12 years running other multi-franchise sites in the UK.

‘There is nothing like MotorMall in the UK. You get three or four franchises in one location or building but Motor Mall is a unique set-up,’ Neil explained.

Of the latest addition to the Motor Mall ranks, Neil commented: ‘The Jacksons Group has represented Vauxhall in some of the other islands and they approached us to ask if we would like to do so at Motor Mall.’

He added: ‘With JLR and Volvo moving out later this year we were delighted to have been offered this franchise by the PSA Group.’ Planning for the arrival of the new franchise included recruiting Michel Brooke, a Vauxhall Master technician with nearly ten years’ experience with the brand, while Simon Williams has taken responsibility as the new Vauxhall sales executive.

‘Adding Vauxhall to our stable increases our ability to provide our customers with a one-stop shop,’ said Neil.

‘If a customer comes in looking for an SUV, for example, we can show them a range of vehicles from different manufacturers, rather than having to pigeon-hole them into the closest car we have in one particular franchise.

‘We want to help customers find the vehicle that is right for them, not just try to sell them what we want them to buy. I want my sales staff to be approachable and have the time to talk to customers, find out what they want and need from their car and help them to make the right decision.’

The Vauxhall range currently includes ADAM, Corsa, VIVA, Astra, Cascada, GTC, New Combo Life, Crossland X, Mokka X, Grandland X, Insignia and the Zafira Tourer.

Among the demonstrators available to test drive are ADAM, Corsa, Astra, Mokka X and Grandland X with more to follow.

Motor Mall is celebrating the launch of Vauxhall this weekend with a number of introductory offers.
