We’ll pay, say board members on St Malo trip

Chairman Deputy Lyndon Farnham has promised to make public the final cost of the exercise, which involved 15 people at a two-day meeting on strategic issues.The board has released the following statement: ‘Further to recent coverage in the local media and a perception that the two-day meeting was an expensive junket, members of the Jersey Tourism Board will be meeting their own expenses.

One said that it was “”one of the best value for money and time investments I could ever make in Jersey’s tourism industry””.’Board member David Seymour has described it as ‘the most constructive meeting of minds regarding Jersey’s tourism industry in my memory’ and said that it fully justified the decision to meet away from the Island.At the meeting it was decided to set up three working parties to:Evaluate Jersey Tourism’s financial planning and budget.Develop marketing strategy and product development.Focus upon political issues in relation to the tourism industry.Each group has been given two months to report back.
