Jaskini favourite for CI Champion Hurdle at Les Landes

The late Bob Froome was a pillar of the equestrian community in both Bailiwicks and it is fitting that this race should honour his memory.Jaskini, trained in Guernsey by Michael Ephgrave, won it last year and on the evidence of his easy win at the second June fixture it’s hard to see what can stop him from taking the title again.

On that occasion he gave Darmont SF 12 lb and a four-length beating whereas they now meet at level weights.

Midnight Coup, an easy winner at Easter, represents the UK stable of Brendan Powell and will be ridden by Paul Holley.

He should run well.

If there is a serious danger to Jaskini it will come from Off Minor, easily the best of these on the flat and winner of the Jersey Derby last year.Full report and card in today’s JEP.
