Records stay intact as Turnbull conquers Bouley Bay

Rob Turnbull won round 19 in 39.79 sec, the only driver to get below 39 on this run-off, but five competitors went below that in the second and Adam Fleetwood won on the last run of the day in 39.23.The day started with a downpour which meant extended practice, no time for lunch and straight into racing.

Dale Crowsley took the Lee Olver Memorial Trophy.Oliver Holmes recorded his first win in the up to 250 cc motor cycle class for the Snow Marquerie Cup in 47.30 but Justin Bush was just 0.07 behind.Bruce Dingle won the TAF Goodyear Trophy for motor cycles over 351 cc in 45.26 while Marc Le Sueur, overall record-holder on the hill, could manage only second place in 45.53 and was lucky to stay on his machine through the wet at Slemens.Once again it was Nigel Davis who was fastest in the karts, in 41.08 while Anthony Wellesley recorded 44.06.

There were 40 vying for points in the first run for all the cars in the British Hill round.Only 12 drivers go through to the run-off with just ten earning points – and local driver Jeremy Phillips qualified in tenth and his run-off time of 41.79 earned him a point, as he shared the time with Guernsey’s Mike Dean although he didn’t qualify for the next run-off.Turnbull had recorded a time of 40.02 so was last to go and he beat the 40.14 set by Fleetwood to take the class win.With the tarmac heating up the top three were out for points – championship leader Graeme Wright Jnr is 15 ahead of Tim Mason who is a point ahead of Fleetwood – and it was Fleetwood who won the ten points in round 20 with Martin Groves second in 39.36.

Wright was fourth in 39.88.Wright still leads on 146 pts; Fleetwood is second on 136 and Mason third on 133.
