Waterfront pool opens tomorrow

Members of the public will be welcomed through the doors from 10 am to try out facilities including the flumes, slides, lazy river and leisure pool. The centre will be open seven days a week from Monday. The president of Education, Sport and Culture, Senator Mike Vibert, said that the opening was great news for Jersey.’It is another sport and leisure facility for the people of Jersey and visitors to the Island,’ he said.

‘It adds a new dimension for people who want to enjoy aquatic pursuits, and it also provides a new competition pool at a time when the Fort Regent pool has come to the end of its useful life.’He added: ‘It’s good for the Island and I hope that people will enjoy using it for a long time to come.

I think it will bring a lot of enjoyment to younger members of the community.’While demand is high over the coming weeks, an hour’s session will cost £3.55 for youngsters aged five to 15, £5.10 for adults and £13.75 for a family of two adults and two children.

Children younger than five swim free of charge. Those tickets will allow entry into the leisure area, which includes the flumes and slides.Clive Williams, group operations manager for Serco, which runs the centre, said that the finishing touches were being added yesterday so that all systems could be checked today.’It is a fantastic mix of facilities that will remain popular for many years,’ he said.

‘I think that the ticket prices are excellent value for money.’
