Cricket:JICC with work to do

JICC ended with a score of 189 for 7 from their 50 overs while GICC were 275 for 8 when stumps were drawn after their allotted overs.Having first use of a good wicket, JICC batted rather too tentatively at times and only James Mashiter with 85 had the measure of an accurate GICC attack.

Mashiter and Richard Gomersall put on 55 for the first wicket in just over an hour and lunch was reached on 101 for 2 from 28 overs.

Mashiter and Martin Amy had added 58 either side of the break but then Amy (30) and Ian Crocker went in the space of an over to Jeremy Frith.Along with Nigel Crocker, Mashiter added a further 45 not without incident as Rob Turville cause a problem or two.

Mashiter was last out with just one ball left after a bizarre run out.GICC’s reply was positive with 44 coming from Vince Kenny and Matt Oliver at five runs an over.

Team came at 87 for 1 from 15 overs and a further 36 came until Oliver (75) was bowled by Danny Blasco.Justin Meades went shortly afterwards for 27 and then Frith added 77 with skipper Stuart Le Prevost in 11 overs.GICC built up an overnight lead of 86 runs after a breezy 35 from Steve Quéripel.
