Trained police negotiators were called in to talk the 12- and 14-year-old boys down from the property in St Mark’s Road. The boys, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were reported to have escaped custody on Monday night.

They had been on the run for more than 12 hours when they were spotted on the roof at around 3.15 pm yesterday.Officers surrounded the building to make sure the boys could not slip away without being arrested and the road was closed.

The boys eventually came down at 8.15 pm of their own accord and were arrested for being unlawfully at large.
