Climate change: What’s in store

A report explaining for the first time how climate change could affect Jersey has been released by the British-Irish Council.

The report lays out scenarios for world energy use continuing as it is and for governments taking steps to reduce emissions. It says that sea levels around Jersey could rise by between nine and 69 centimetres by the 2080s, and that temperatures could also change dramatically.

Average temperatures in the summer months could rise by up to 4.3 degrees in the same timescale and temperatures could also go up by 2.3 per cent between December and February.
