Poverty ‘hitting the young’

Poverty ‘hitting the young’

The Co-ordinating Committee for the Eradication of Poverty have released a report saying up to 2,000 young people in Jersey are living in unacceptable conditions. The committee, which is led by former Education Committee president Iris Le Feuvre, say it is disappointing that the States have not widely researched the issue. The report suggests that vocational learning opportunities could be expanded in secondary schools and that better support should be made available for those not getting the most out of their education.

It recommends more support and guidance for the parents of young children.
