Their rescuers said that they were lucky not to have been caught in the blaze on the top floor of a building in Dicq Road just after midday yesterday.It was a teacher at St Luke’s School who alerted emergency services after spotting smoke coming from a window.Two fire engines were sent to the blaze, and it took ten firefighters around 30 minutes to extinguish it.Sub-officer Richard Liron said: ‘The room was well alight when we arrived.
