Assault case goes to the Royal Court

In the Magistrate’s Court this morning Christopher Allaine (30), of Maufant Village, St Martin, reserved his plea to assaulting the 24-year-old on Route de Noirmont, St Brelade, on 13 July.

It is alleged he was walking behind the woman at about 3 am in the morning when she collapsed 150 metres short of Woodbine Corner after already vomiting.Police legal adviser Lawrence O’Donnell said that a witness from a nearby property saw the woman fall to the ground and the alleged assault.He said that the woman remained unconscious throughout.Relief Magistrate Terry Sowden declined jurisdiction and remanded Allaine on a warning until 27 August for committal proceeding to begin.
