Europe came close to winning but, having just played the Asian Games over the previous six days, their hosts just had the edge.The men’s triples team of Amadeu da Roche (Portugal) and Jersey’s Derek Boswell (JBC) and Frank Hambly (St Saviour), lost the last game by one shot to go down 14-10.In the singles David Le Marquand pushed Asian Games singles champion Adam Poynton of Hong Kong all the way while Karina Horman did similarly against Commonwealth champion Siti Zalina Ahmad of Malaysia.Liz Cole (Sun) skipped the ladies triples with Janeth da Roche (Portugal) and Crystal Toleman (Spain) and despite never playing together before, the trio put in a creditable performance.
