The Island branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing are inviting nominations for the sixth Marketing Excellence Awards.

here are five categories, with three nominations in each: best overall campaign; best use of new media; best use of print; best use of television or radio; and best use of direct mail.

he entries will be judged this year by Jerry Wood, an experienced marketing professional who began his career working for cosmetics firm Avon and has since acted as consultant to organisations as diverse as the World Bank and Coca Cola.

urrently managing director of PR firm Bell Pottinger First Financial, he has represented well-known brands such as Friends Provident, Credit Suisse and Egg.

IM (Jersey) chairman Christine Holmes said: ‘Given the current economic uncertainty and the increasing need for differentiation across a wide range of local industries, marketing should now, more than ever, be focused on driving business performance, short-term and long-term.

The aim of our annual excellence awards is to highlight the expertise and talent which is available locally and to reward those who demonstrate measurable success in their marketing campaigns, thereby setting a benchmark for the rest of the industry.
