Footballer’s two-year ban overturned by FA

JFA disciplinary secretary John Gasston confirmed the FA’s decision today but on what grounds the appeal succeeded he did not know as he was awaiting official notification from Lancaster Gate.Beatson was served the ban after being given a red card for allegedly treading on an opponent’s head during a Jersey Soccer League cup final between his club and CS Madeira. The 25-year-old forward, who was suspended indefinitely immediately after the incident, received the ban following a JFA disciplinary committee personal hearing.Beatson appealed to the FA on the grounds that the incident was an accident and that there was no malice or intent involved. He then attended an FA hearing with Joe Morley (an Everton SC follower and Beatson’s manager at Trinity FC) and JFA officials Gasston and Tom du Feu.Morley said: ‘Barry is delighted he has won his case, he always wanted to prove his innocence.

‘He’s glad it’s all over and he wants to thank the JFA officials who gave up their time to attend his appeal.’Beatson is free to play with immediate effect.
