Cardiff trip reward for community work

As part of the FA McDonalds Community Coaching Programme, that is committed to developing 8,000 qualified coaches nationally over the next four years, 14 coaches from Grouville, Jersey Wanderers, Rozel Rovers, St Brelade, St Clement, St Paul’s and St Peter football clubs recently completed Level 1 coaching course.Richard Hébert, Tim de Luca, Paul Harzo, Charlie Browne, Stuart Siddall, Fraser Siddall, Dieter Paland, Philippa Symonds, Michael Le Garignon, Andrew Heaven, Malcolm Scott, David Walsh, Jack Jouanny and Ben Murray were all successful after receiving training in coaching, administration, emergency aid and child protection and in return for a commitment of two hours coaching per week, within their clubs, they received a free package of kit and equipment consisting of a tracksuit, polo shirt, shorts, jacket, 16 footballs, bibs and a set of cones.Brian Oliver, Jersey’s Football Development Officer, said: ‘This new partnership will create thousands of community-based coaches who will assist with the provision of opportunities for young footballers over the next four years.

It’s a huge investment from McDonalds to support the development of grassroots football but what a fantastic scheme.’In Jersey, by 2006, around 60 coaches from those clubs who have successfully achieved Charter Standard status and have made a commitment to good practice will receive the training and resources for the benefit of their young players.’The scheme, co-ordinated by Oliver and McDonalds Jersey store manager Mohamed Titouh, has provided match tickets for the coaches for Sunday’s FA Community Shield between Arsenal and Manchester United at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.The Jersey Football Association are also supply ball boys for the game, those taking part are James Walsh, Michael Weir, Aaron Crowe, Alex Gee, Mark Chipperfield, Adam Lester, David Kenyon, Pierce Cummins, Sam Habin, James Jones, Luke Campbell and Stevie Reid.
