Shortly after stepping of the ferry, the Island youngsters won the toss and put Dorset South and East District in to bat on a slow track and they struggled to take wickets.Dorset’s openers batted steadily allowing the later batsmen to accelerate to a score of 121 for 4 at the end of their scheduled 28 overs, the wickets being shared around by the Jersey bowlers.Jersey got off to a disastrous reply losing both openers in the first over.

The innings was steadied by Anthony Kay (14) and Tom Gibbs (20) but although runs came at above the required run rate, wickets continued to fall and when the ninth fell 22 runs were still required for victory.Sensible batting by Francois Le Gresley (19 not out) and Oliver Tett (8 not out) guided Jersey home with just over an over to spare. The second game was a 90-over format against a Dorset District Select U12s played at Bournemouth Sports Club.

Jersey won the toss and batting first they slipped to 37 for 4.However positive batting by Gibbs (35) and Matthew Hanley (40) and Tom Stevens who scored his maiden 50, turned things around for the visitors. An eighth-wicket stand between Duncan Macabe (31) and Francois Le Gresley (28 not out) enabled Jersey to declare at 238 for 8 in the 44th over. When Dorset batted, despite losing a couple of early wickets, at 125 for 4 with only ten overs left they looked certainties to hold out for a draw.In the final over of his spell Mark Chipperfield then took three wickets to change the face of the game.

Tom Gibbs then grabbed two slightly fortunate wickets before James Quérée ended a stubborn last wicket stand with ten balls to go.Chipperfield finished with 4 for 19 from his eight overs and Gibbs three for 25.The last match against Dorset West was cancelled because of rain.Jersey’s under-13s, who were accompanied by Warren Johnson and Andy Gibbs, were: Anthony Kay, Charlie Johnson, James Quérée, Duncan Macabe, Matthew Hanley, Tom Stevens, Mark Chipperfield, Sam Daniel, Oliver Tett, Sam de la Haye, Francois Le Gresley and Tom Gibbs.
