Walker steps up bid for UK title

Walker, racing for Team JLR, has taken an incredible seven class victories already this season from just 12 races.

He has finished in the top three overall on another three occasions and will be aiming to claim that elusive top step of the podium this weekend, netting the 19-year-old a £10,000 cash prize.Walker said on Snetterton: ‘The long pit straight leads you into turn one, Riches.

With an extremely fast approach, it can easily lose you time on the entry.

‘You are hitting a minimum speed of around 95 mph at this apex.

Then there is a short run down to Sear.

‘This is one of the most important corners on the track.

A clean exit is needed to ensure good momentum on to one of the longest straights in the country.’By the end of the straight you hit 145 mph before braking hard for the Esses.

It’s vital you carry as much speed into the corner complex as possible as the car will be unbalanced on entry and can spin easily.

‘On exiting the Esses your attention is then drawn towards the ‘Bomb Hole’.

During qualifying, this is taken flat-out in third gear.’You are then catapulted into another quick right-hander at Coram.

With very little run-off between the car and the wall, the driver gets a real sense of speed here.

‘Now you drop down the hill into the left-right of Russell.

Again, a nice clean exit is needed to give you good straight-line speed up past the pits and across the start-finish line.’Snetterton is one of the fastest and most challenging circuits that we visit.

‘With top speeds on a par with the sweeping straights of Thruxton, it’s guaranteed to provide close frantic racing.’
