First timer 16-year-old Sammy Maletroit completed the crossing from Dover to Cap Gris Nez in 12 hours 12 minutes in near-perfect conditions.The sea was less kind to Richard Flambard, who was attempting his second Channel swim.
He took 11 hours 23 minutes, one hour and three minutes slower than his first crossing in 1989.
