Travellers hit by  baggage delays

An overtime ban over a pay dispute, which began at lunchtime on Friday, was continuing today.

Workers voted for the work-to-rule after refusing to accept a 3.5 per cent pay increase.As a consequence, all airside baggage is being individually weighed by the handlers.

Usually they will take an average of baggage weight to load aircraft quickly.

The company provides handling services to the two biggest carriers, Flybe and British Airways, as well as to Le Cocqs Airlink and a number of charter operators.The position was at its worst on Saturday afternoon with arriving baggage taking well over an hour to be unloaded from some flights.
