Milk producers tackle JMMB

A letter has been sent to all the Island’s registered producers (except JMMB board members) and all members of the Economic Development Committee and Finance and Economics Committee, signed by six producers, which says that it is ‘time that JMMB board becomes answerable to the state of the accounts’.The letter is signed by six dairy producers, which include the former president of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society, John Le Feuvre, and Darren Quénault , who has said that his own future in the industry depends on whether he is allowed to set up his own dairy at his St Peter farm.Among the questions to which they encourage producers to elicit answers are: How is Jersey Milk able to continue to trade with current liabilities of £2,409,000?Why were last year’s accounts ‘fundamentally mis-stated’?Why did the board not do anything earlier to face the problems besetting the industry?Do they feel that they are responsible for the total liabilities of £6,276,000 in total?
