The sportboat class was won by Allen Brown and partners in The Dog’s in 7 hr 59 min and Don Thompson and crew won the sport catamaran trophy in their Hobie 16 Vela Bianca in 8 hr 54 min.

GOLF: Paul Hatcher had a hole in one on the fourth at Wheatlands GC on Saturday on his way to victory in the Eventus Vase competition.

He finished with 41 points off his 21 handicap with Alan Day second (38 pts, 25 h’cap) and Jason Leaney third (37 pts, h’cap 22).WHIPPET RACING: Apache, owned by Steve Lawson, won the Barbara Robbé Memorial Trophy over a 100 yards course for a remarkable fourth consecutive year.

His son, Jetstream, almost snatched it from him in the final race, but had to settle for second.

Third was Topaz, also Steve Lawson’s, with Mary Herold’s Mr Ed fourth.

The consolation winner was Sue and Richard Slous’ Comanche.

Veteran of the day was Margaret Coxshall’s Laddie.

All proceeds from the meet were donated to the Jersey Schizophrenia Fellowship in memory of the late Barbara Robbé.

In the handicap competition Seb Brown from La Moye GC was top with a nett 63 off a nine handicap, second was Royal Jersey’s Harrison Moore (26) net 63 and third was Royal Jersey’s Sam Wade (19) net 64.
