It will enable Islanders and visitors alike to buy tickets and souvenirs over the internet.Next year is one of the most important in Jersey’s history and it will be marked with 12 months of events celebrating the Channel Islands’ split from France and the beginnings of the Bailiwicks’ unique constitutional links with the Crown.By booking early, savings can be obtained on tickets for events such the three-day Jersey Revels – a medieval fair staged in association with the Jersey Evening Post, on the lines of Dinan’s Fête des Remparts, between Mont Orgueil Castle and Gorey Village.The chairman of Jersey’s 1204-2002 sub-committee, former Senator Nigel Quérée, said: ‘The celebrations aim to raise the profile of Jersey internationally and the internet is the perfect medium.
We also believe that the marketing of a medieval event using 21st century technology is symbolic of the changes Jersey has undergone over the past 800 years – embracing change while celebrating our heritage.’
