Home visit convict runs off

Darren McCormack , aged 24 and originally from Glasgow, gave a prison officer the slip during a special supervised home visit to a flat in Rouge Bouillon yesterday.The States police said today that he was not believed to be ‘an immediate threat’, but should not be approached.

McCormack, who is less than a year into his sentence for grave and criminal assault and is not eligible for standard day release, was allowed home to discuss wedding arrangements with his fiancée.Prison governor Mike Kirby said McCormack was having a row with the woman when he ran from the flat at around 3.20 pm.

The prison officer gave chase, but could not keep up.
