Joe Morley and Adam Reid’s side shook off last weekend’s Jeremie Cup defeat in fine style winning 4-0 after goals by Peter Edwards (two), Paul Beckett and Paddy O’Toole.Reid said: ‘We responded well to the slagging we got from the Vale defeat, we had seven players missing against them and all they did was hump long balls.

We played all the football and it was very disappointing to lose to them.’We responded well last night and our players were excellent.

We had a strong team out and we dominated throughout.

Peter Edwards and Paddy O’Toole were influential in midfield and Peter’s second goal was class.

He got through on the goalkeeper and, feigning to shoot, the keeper dived and he just rolled the ball into the goal.’Magpies manager Ian Golding said: ‘We huffed and puffed but we couldn’t blow them down.

Trinity were superb, that performance was the best I’ve ever seen from them.

It was a tough game for us, we simply could not get the ball off them.’O’Toole stuck away the first after a pass from Edwards and Edwards headed Trinity 2-0 ahead after a fine cross from Allan Brown.Minutes after the break the CI champions added a third when Paul Beckett slid the ball home on a back post after another cross this time by Jon Fitzmaurice.Edwards completed the scoring with his cheeky effort.Magpies: Tony Carlyon; Haydn Bechemain, Mark Holley, Adam Budworth, James Ollivro, Dave Bisson (Ben Jones, 60); Chad Morris (Peter Warrell, 60), Andy Barker, Dave De Abreu; Fintan Kennedy (Jason Newman, 60), Jason Reynolds.Trinity: Carlos Rebelo; Allan Brown, Dave Lloyd, Peter Smith, Jon Fitzmaurice; Gerard Meadows, Paddy O’Toole, Peter Edwards, Paul Beckett (Mark Brennan, 78); Dave Le Roux (Barry Beatson 69), Paul Crompton.
