Dean Saunders was third Islander, finishing 253rd overall.Tracey Ryan was first-placed Jersey lady bowler.After coming to terms with the conditions, which were very different to the lanes at Jersey Bowl, and after then being hit by stomach bugs, flu and back and groin strains, Jersey finished just below half-way out of the 65 nations taking part in both the men’s and women’s team events.They were ahead of Guernsey, Scotland and Northern Ireland, with Wright finishing in some style with scores of 205, 208 and 224 in the five-man team event.

Team-mate Dean Saunders finished with 206, 190 and 227.Early this afternoon Wright was watching the finals of the masters competition, with Tim Mack from America with a 278 leading from a bowler from the United Arab Emirates and two others from Australia while Lisa de Rosario from the Philippines was leading the women’s competition.All competition finishes tomorrow.Speaking from Malaysia, Wright said that it had been a terrific learning experience and that he and the other Island bowlers would love to go to the next world championships in four years time.
