Golf:Jersey Western ready for county shoot-out

Andover GC stand in their way of a place in the final at Barton on Sea near Bournemouth with the other semi-final between Stoneham GC and Cowes GC.Each team comprises seven players who each play 18 holes of individual matchplay off handicaps.Team manager and captain Roger Laffoley said: ‘It’s the first time in the club’s history we have reached this far in the competition, which is one heck of an achievement for a membership of just 45 senior playing members.’We beat two of the strongest clubs in the Channel Islands – La Moye GC and the Royal Guernsey GC, the latter away from home – on the way to a quarter-final match against Bohunt Manor who were no match for us at home.’Our team spirit is very high and we are going away to win not just for the ride.
