In a move similar to arrangements for the football World Cup last year, the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, will consider applications by licensed premises to show games.
Licensees are being asked to apply to the Bailiff’s Office by Monday 6 October for permits to open early.Pubs that open early will be expected to provide a breakfast to patrons, and will also be expected to provide proper viewing facilities.
Licensees will also have to inform parish Constables and the police of the days they plan to open early at least 48 hours ahead of games.All Sport Bar proprietor Steve Besant, who made the initial inquiry to the Bailiff’s Office, said that it was fantastic news, especially as England are favourites for the competition.
