The 60-ft boat crossed the final finish line off Liverpool in second place behind Hong Kong – but crucially two places above arch-rivals Bristol, which was the only yacht that could steal Jersey’s crown.Simon Rowell and his crew turned the race around in the final sprint between Jersey and Liverpool.
Leaving St Helier last week, Jersey still trailed Bristol by a point but a victory and second place in the two-stage leg meant that Jersey nudged its close rival off the top podium place and won the overall race by two points.Skipper Rowell said that one of the key factors in Jersey’s victory was the inspiring reception that he and his crew received during their short stopover in the Island last week.
