Archive exhibition for Jersey Lily

It features many of Jersey’s most famous daughter’s personal possessions, including her silver dressing case mirror, photographs and letters.

Also included in the exhibition are portraits of the Victorian socialite and actress painted by Sir John Millais and Sir Edward Poynter.Every age has its own idea of beauty and Mrs Langtry became the ‘pin-up’ and trend-setter of her time.

The daughter of a Dean of Jersey, William Le Breton, she was born at St Saviour’s Rectory on 13 October 1853.Mrs Langtry bequeathed a number of items to the people of Jersey, which form part of the Société Jersiaise collection.

It is these and later additions which will be on display until 18 October.

The exhibition is being mounted by the Jersey Heritage Trust and is sponsored by David and Anne Crossland.
