Green fields to be used for golf in St Clement and St Saviour

And a new driving range is due to open next spring in the heart of rural St Saviour.Nearly six months ago Planning approved plans for a change of use of La Becquetterie Farm – between Rue des Prés and Rue de la Blinerie – from agriculture to golf.

This week the Jersey Recreation Grounds is submitting its detailed plans for three greens and a driving range.Farmer Tim Pallot and his family are retaining part of the land, the traditional farmhouse, some outbuildings and modern bungalow, while States-owned flood relief meadows are not included.

Access to the new facilities will be from Rue des Prés, with parking to the rear of the farm buildings.The chairman of the Recreation Grounds Company Limited, Trevor Gray, said that the driving range, which will be state of the art, should be operational early next year, but it would be three years before the new greens would be ready to play.
