The in-form Robin, a 14-year-old pupil at De La Salle, scored 39 Stableford points to reduce his handicap to eight.

He went out in 18 and came back in 21.Also on excellent form was 12-year-old Sam de la Haye, who finished his second ever competition in a creditable fifth place, with 35 points.Of the others, Sam Crenan (12) and 13-year-olds Keiran Goodricke and Sam de la Haye and eight handicapper Leon Nightingale, all returned with 31 points plus.The group was accompanied by Peter Crenan, who said the lads played well and had a great day out.’It is a a very good thing to see the younger boys showing their commitment to travel to play,’ he said.

‘All these youngsters have a great future in the game and it shows the good shape our junior golf is in.

None of these boys are Island players – yet! They were in a field of 25 players and it’s always nice to get a win – especially away.’The group consisted of eight Royal Jersey players, four from La Moye and one from the Western Golf Club.’
