Jersey hurlers face semi-final showdown in London

It will be a vastly experienced side full of veterans that take the field for Jersey in tomorrow’s London Intermediate semi-final at Parnell’s Parks.Player manager Denis Finnegan is optimistic about this tried and trusted formula for success. The team have been training hard for some time and should line-out tomorrow with a fullback line of Gerald O’Gorman, Tony Kelly and Pat Maloney – three players who thrive under pressure.

WorkhorseWorkhorse John Molloy will anchor the team at centre back, flanked by Eugene McCarthy and Jimmy McCormack.

Up front the dancing feet of Eddie McGrath and Damien McCue will have the added support of the returning Geordie Finnegan, who has a prodigious appetite for work. But it could be that this potential epic encounter is decided by Ritchie Maloney, who scored twice in his first outing.Sadly, missing from the team is Liam Whorrisky who was the victim of a serious attack in St Helier last weekend.

The team wish him a speedy recovery and will bid to raise his spirits with a place in the final.
