Survivors of HMS Charybdis and HMS Limbourne, sunk by German torpedoes that fatal night, braved rough seas to travel from Guernsey where they were taking part in the last official commemoration as the 60th anniversary approaches.The 38-strong party included survivors, their rescuers, family and friends of the two ships and their crew.Their first port of call was the Jersey War Cemetery in Howard Davis Park where 12 men, named and unknown, found a final resting place after their bodies were washed up on Island beaches in November and December 1943.The veterans joined ex-internees and Islanders for a short service and wreath-laying ceremony.On the actual anniversary this month the group will meet again to travel to France to visit graves and lay a wreath at the Charybdis and Limbourne memorial in Perros Guirrec.
