Official: TV gun stunt an illusion

State-of-the-art pyrotechnics filled Francheville Farm, Grouville, on Sunday night and gave the impression to millions of live television viewers that he was cheating death with a loaded gun.But after much pressure, the States police have lifted the lid on the whole programme, branding it ‘a magic show’.It is understood that a visitor permit was issued to the production company for a .38 handgun to be brought to the Island, along with blank ammunition, for the filming of the programme concerned.

Deputy Chief Officer Lennie Harper said: ‘We spoke to Channel 4 before the filming of this programme and were happy that the content was a complete illusion and that there was no risk to Derren, the television crew or anyone involved.
