A team of four Jersey Harbours divers refloated the Inversanda and the States tug Duke of Normandy towed it into La Collette.

The retrieval operation began on the low tide in the early afternoon and ended at 7.30 yesterday evening.Harbours duty officer Peter Lawrence said that the tug and divers went out to the yacht, lying in about 12 metres of water at low tide south-east of the Demie des Pas lighthouse, and secured extra buoyancy bags to raise it.

The Duke of Normandy carefully towed it into the harbour.Repairs to the damaged hull were carried out overnight and today the yacht was hoisted on the the quay at La Collette.The Inversanda’s troubles began on Saturday when she hit rocks near Icho Tower at 11 am.

Fortunately, both the St Helier and St Catherine lifeboats were on exercise in the area and managed to get owner Michael Allo, his son, Mike, and two others safely off the vessel.
