They have been given a grant of £40,000 by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children to look into child provision and how that could be improved.Two weeks ago, the trust appointed a new team member to help implement an Islandwide strategy for a child-friendly environment.Nicola Logan is the group’s new child friendly project co-ordinator.

She has a diploma in nursery nursing and has spent 16 years working with children and parents in private nurseries.

Most recently she managed Causeway, a charitable organisation providing accommodation and support for single mother and babies.Miss Logan is currently working for the trust to collect data on what is available for children and young people in the Island.

One of the first things to come from her research will be the child friendly awards in January, a scheme which has now been running for two years and aims to make places more aware of what facilities they provide for young people.
