Pc hurt as van is hit by stolen car

Three boys aged 12, 14 and 16 and a 16-year-old girl were expected to appear before the Magistrate this morning on charges which included attempting to break into properties in Roseville Street overnight on Friday and breaking into a property in Grands Vaux.The stolen car, a bronze-coloured Renault Clio, was allegedly taken from the property in Grands Vaux.Police patrolling at Sion in St John saw the car which had been reported stolen and followed it into Vallée des Vaux.

Other police officers were alerted to go to the area.While trying to evade a marked police vehicle, the stolen car collided with Pc Paul Kemp’s dog handler van.The police said that although the accident did not occur at high speed and there was not any significant damage, it would be investigated.Pc Kemp suffered severe bruising and strain to his back and was signed off work for five days.

His dogs Zooka and Storm were uninjured.

The police are linking the stolen vehicle incident to attempted break-ins at the Roseville Street Pharmacy and Stop Shop.
